Who had "RAF Guy makes a 7 year comeback to rPB glitch and is the first to sub 1 minute" on their 2022 mkw Bingo card? I certainly didn't. I did not ever expect to come back to grind glitches at a world record level, interestingly it was the no-glitch aspect of this that drew me back. I figured with my improvements at no-glitch over the years, I could save time there and potentially try to go right of the cataquacks lap 1. After a bit of practice I could make it right of the catas lap 1 about 50% of the time, which is really nice considering it saves a decent amount. I did have to do more than that though, since my glitches have never been on par with the best players before. So I studied all the top players here and how they go for the glitch, and was able to improve my glitches considerably, although still not the best by any means. I played this for about a week and did not expect to get sub 1:00 already. I was hoping to get it before 2022 was over so that I could keep my 1 wr per year streak going strong, and I'm glad I did! Somewhere out there, YoshiKecleon is overjoyed.
Thoughts during the run: I was preoccupied listening to a youtube video and snapped into focus after the first glitch, but even still I had no expectations to make the second one. I was absolutely shocked I made the second one and then went into LASER focus lol. After the 2nd to last turn lap 3, I knew I was gonna get the WR. I really didn't want to kezer and ended up playing the chain too safe, but I'm thrilled to get the first ever sub 1:00 here!
Thoughts after the run: I'm pretty shaken because I didn't think I'd get this so soon, but yeah I'm thrilled. I don't have a plan now lol. I guess we'll see how things pan out now, maybe I'll try for 3/3.

The final minute barrier:
This is probably the last sub minute barrier that will ever happen in Mario Kart Wii, unless new strategies are found to drastically improve a current glitch, a new glitch is discovered, or someone does rSL 3/3 or RR 2/3. I've learned to never say never when it comes to this game though. We'll just have to wait and see.

Run Analysis:
Lap 1: Decent beginning, although no curb ride. Got the chain, hit water, nudged before last turn. Solid glitch dropping to the mid 50km/h range which isn't ideal but still good. Happy to get out of this lap with a low .5 all things considered.
Lap 2: Kezer drop, which is unfortunately very common for me. I've got to figure that out. Solid driving afterwards though. Then a much slower glitch than the first one, dropping to 47 km/h.
Lap 3: Good. My angle was a bit too far left entering the last turn and I got a drop on the straight. It's "BKS" but the lap count was so late that this split is faster than usual, so take that with a grain of salt. I would add like .090 to this lap and take .090 from lap 2 for more realistic splits compared to Jacob.
