A PARALLEL REALITY - Audio-Visual Music Environment
Here we have 2 unreleased, self produced tracks played with live audio & visual effects, featuring footage taken at Macclesfield Forest and on the Mezzanine.
This was my submission for the 3rd year Major Project course of an Electronic Music Production & Performance degree at Spirit Studios. - Silkman
Programme notes:
"When Silkman discovered a nature reserve close to where he grew up was due to be destroyed, he was inspired to create ‘A Parallel Reality’, an Audio Visual Showcase imagining a world where humans & technology evolved respecting the environment.
Silkman returned to his roots, to film forest footage that is interwoven with clips of him performing effects over his tracks. He created visuals inspired by the surrealist films of David Lynch, featuring feedback loops and cross-fades. Music interacts with the visuals via MIDI mapping and on-beat editing, with effects producing a habitat of nature and technology in harmony.
A DJ of 10 years, Silkman’s balearic ethos of eclectic mixing inspires his varied productions. The audio features field recordings, informed by research of Acoustic Ecology. Musical influences include the pastoral 80’s pop of Frazier Chorus, and the emotional house music of Roy Of The Ravers."
Audio was made on Ableton Live, visuals were done with Final Cut Pro & VideoSync.
