The ability to add audio files to Google Slides has been long awaited. In April of 2019, GSuite domains started receiving the update to insert audio files from Google Drive. This video features how to insert audio into a Google Slides presentation for three different scenarios: background music for an entire slides presentation, background audio or narration for a single slide, and sound bites for different regions on a slide.
All of the audio tracks are stored in Google Drive. If you choose to share your slides with other people, proper permissions need to be setup for your audio.
