Longplay of What's Shenmue?, a 1999 demo version of the first Shenmue game, that was delivered for free to all of the buyers who pre-ordered original Shenmue on Dreamcast in 1999. It was delivered to them on the release day instead, since the main game got hit with a slight delay. Developed by Sega AM-2 studio, It's basically a two part demo - one is a tutorial/tech demo thing, with close look on the character models, and the second one is the titular (in Japan) Search for Mr. Yukawa (former Sega Senior Managing Director), basically a tutorial walk around Dobuita City, a starting point for the main game. Here, it is the English translation hack of the game, coupled with the real 16:9 widescreen hack, all running emulated on Redream at 3840x2880 resolution, highest possible. Recorded at 4K30 H.265 HEVC via OBS.
I had some issues with hitting inputs on time in that one QTE running sequence, might have been a fault of emulation and it's input delay, or just me getting senile at 25 and forgetting how to play games, both equally probable.
Just to repeat: THIS IS A DEMO OF SHENMUE THAT WAS A PRE-ORDER BONUS BACK IN 1999.

What's Shenmue? (What's シェンムー ～湯川(元)専務をさがせ～, What's Shenmū ~Yukawa (moto) Senmu o Sagase~, lit. "What's Shenmue: Search for Yukawa (former) Senior Managing Director") was a special premier disc in Japan given to those who pre-ordered Shenmue, additionally another edition of the disc was given away in Famitsu, a Japanese gaming magazine. The only difference between the two is that the Famitsu version has an orange cover, as opposed to a blue cover. Due to a delay in releasing Shenmue in Japan, anyone who pre-ordered it was given this on the date it was intended to be released on. The game itself works like a demo of Shenmue, featuring Dobuita, a town in Yokosuka, although not all of it is accessible. You play as Ryo Hazuki much like you would in the full game. The disc also includes 4 of the movies included on the Passport disc of the original Shenmue that explain aspects of the game.
