Since Lebanon's economy began to unravel in 2019, the national currency's value has severely depreciated against the US dollar on the parallel market, depositors have been locked out of their bank savings and families have been pushed into poverty.

Numerous attempts to launch an Economic recovery plan have been thwarted by political bickering and a void in the system. But a Bank restructuring law has recently surfaced and depositors are not sure how it will affect them.

Dean of the Lebanese American University's Adnan Kassar School of Business, and Monetary Policy Professor Wassim Shahin answers L'Orient Today's questions regarding Lebanon's bank restructuring plan and its impact on small and big depositors.
