Hikaye:
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, 2014 yılında çıkan Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes'un devam niteliğindedir. Ground Zeroes'dan sonra 9 yıllık bir komadan uyanan Snake kendini bir
hastanede bulur ve o sırada kimliği belli olmayan bir örgüt tarafından Snake'in bulunduğu hastaneye saldırı düzenlenir. Hastaneden sağ çıkan Snake eski oyunlardan tanıdığımız Ocelot ile karşılaşır ve Phantom Pain'in hikayesi bu şekilde başlar. Daha sonradan Snake, Ocelot ve Kaz önderliğinde Diamond Dogs kurulur.

Karakterler
Snake(Big Boss): Snake, Ground Zeroes vakasının ardından dokuz yıl komada kaldıktan sonra kaldığı hastaneden kaçar ve Diamond Dogs'u kurar.
Ocelot: Binbir türlü yüzü olan Ocelot'un, 1964 yılından beri ne işler çevirdiği belli değildi. Fakat bu sefer Phantom Pain'de Big Boss'un hastahaneden kaçmasına yardım eli uzatıyor ve Diamond Dogs'a katılıyor.
Kazuhira Miller(Kaz): Kaz 1974 ten beri Big Boss'un sağ koludur. Snake komaya girdikten sonra Soğuk Savaşta bir guerilla gurubunu eğitirken Sovyetler birliği tarafından yakalanmıştır.
Quiet: Kadın bir Sniper olan Quiet kendine ait bir takım özel güçlere sahip ve bilinmedik sebeplerden dolayı Diamond Dogs'a getiriliyor.
Huey Emmerich: Solid Snake oyunlarından tanıdığımız Otacon'un öz babasıdır. Peace Walker'da Big Boss tarafından kurtarılmış ve Big Boss için çalışmaya başlamıştır. Ta ki Ground Zeroes vakasına kadar. Phantom Pain'de Big Boss ve ekibinin kendisine işkence yapıldığı görülmüştür.
Skull Face: Kendisini ilk Ground Zeroes'da gördük ve gerçek kimliği şu ana kadar bilinmiyor. Fakat çok nefret dolu bir adam olduğu söylenebilir.

Story:
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the continuation of Ground Gero's Metal Gear Solid V: After Ground Zeroes, Snake wakes up in a 9-year-old coma and finds himself in a hospital where an unidentified organization attacks the hospital where Snake is. Snake, right from the hospital, meets Ocelot whom we know from old games and Phantom Pain's story starts like this. Later on, Diamond Dogs was formed under the leadership of Snake, Ocelot and Kaz.

Characters
Snake (Big Boss): Snake escapes from his hospital after nine years in a coma after Ground Zeroes and sets up Diamond Dogs.
Ocelot: It is not clear what Ocelot has been doing since 1964, which has a thousand faces. But this time in Phantom Pain, Big Boss is helping her escape from the hospital and joining Diamond Dogs.
Kazuhira Miller (Kaz): The goose has been the right hand of Big Boss since 1974. Snake was caught by the Soviet Union as he trained a guerilla group in the Cold War after entering the coma.
Quiet: A woman with a Sniper, Quiet has a number of special powers of her own and is brought to Diamond Dogs for unknown reasons.
Huey Emmerich: Otacon's father we know from Solid Snake games. He was rescued by Big Boss in Peace Walker and started working for Big Boss. Until Taki Ground Zeroes. In Phantom Pain, Big Boss and his team have been tortured.
Skull Face: We saw him on Ground Zeroes and the actual identity is unknown until now. But it can be said that he is a very hateful man.
