The HitchDoc hitch is popular for its brilliant chrome finish and vertical receiver. However, that chrome finish comes at a price – the hitch is more expensive than comparable models and long production lead times can make it hard to get.
The US Hitch has a black powder coat finish that stands out less than the chrome hitch, especially on black bikes. It is less expensive and is easier to source during the busy riding season. It has a standard 1.25” horizontal receiver. This can be handy if the ball mount is lost. A replacement can be purchased at most auto parts and home improvement stores.
Both hitches are US made and both are capable of towing the same weight. While they have slightly different tongue weight ratings, you should not consider this a measure of the hitch’s towing capacity. A tongue weight rating is what a manufacturers thinks your bike’s suspension is capable of supporting, not what the hitch is capable of handling.
