Cannabis. Effects on the Brain and Body. Part 2: Creativity, Sex, and Hormones
We continue to discuss Cannabis (Marijuana), including the biological mechanisms underlying its effects on the mind and body, its known medical uses, its effects on libido, creativity, hunger, hormones, etc. We also discuss the known adverse health effects of chronic and even acute (single-use) use, and the factors that determine whether Cannabis is beneficial or harmful. We also detail how different varieties of Cannabis: Sativa, Indica, and hybrid strains can produce such different effects depending on the type of strain, THC to CBD ratio, total dose, and frequency of use. We examine why marijuana can affect speech and predispose people to develop anxiety/depression during and after use, and in some people, paranoia. As the legal environment surrounding Cannabis is rapidly evolving, this episode should be of interest to a wide audience, including former/current Cannabis users, members of the medical, sports, law enforcement, and educational communities, and of course, children, teens, and parents.
