Blue Moon
Belgian White
a Belgian-style wheat ale
Alcohol by volume 5.4%
Manufacturer: Molson Coors Brewing Company
Blue Moon is orange-amber in color with a cloudy appearance because it is unfiltered. It is also spiced with coriander and orange peel in addition to the hops found in most beers. it does have a more pronounced orange flavor than many other beers of the style. The grain bill for Blue Moon includes malted barley, white wheat, and oats.
Shock Top
Belgian White
a Belgian-Style wheat ale
Alcohol by volume 5.2%
Manufacturer: Anheuser-Busch
Shock Top has a naturally cloudy with a billowy white foam head, light golden hue and slight taste of orange citrus peel and coriander. The beer is brewed with two-row barley, wheat malts, imported hallertau hops, along with a blend of Cascade and Willamette hops. In addition, orange, lemon, lime peels and coriander are used to enhance the aroma and taste.
some Blue Moon and Shock Top drinkers do not prefer fruit slices in their beer, since citric acid can eliminate the beer's frothy, flavorful head, and may prefer to have the brew served in a Wheat beer glass instead. Finally, since Blue Moon & Shock Top are hefeweizen beers it is suggested to leave trace amounts at the bottom of the bottle, then swirl them around in order to pour it into the glass, creating a thick head on the beer.
