Jay Z didn’t read the contract he signed.
Jay Z was getting sued for $18 million after being accused of failing to live up to his side of a fragrance deal and he in turn countersued for 2.7 million dollars.
The Gold Jay-z fragrance was actually the best selling in the world in 2014.
Despite the relationship souring over what the fragrance company Parlux described as Jay-Zs failure to support the product as he was too busy with other projects,
including failing to attend media events such as a launch at Macys and refusing to appear on Good Morning America.
Jay-z said “Actually I’ve always had problems with the quality of the lazy work that was coming from Parlux,”.
Parlux’s lawyer said Jay-z was contractually required to do at least 3 appearances for the brand.
Jay Z signed the contract twice and when questioned by Parlux’s lawyer as to whether he read it, he said “No, I did not read the contract.”
He said he had creative control over his body and that he had done a lot for gold jay-z
But Ultimately the judge and jury ruled that both sides failed to prove their case.
