A Different Frontline Hero
Baon Para sa Basuhero’s efforts to reach out to waste collectors like 67-year-old Tony Bracero have helped him and his family survive through the pandemic. In the Philippines, there are door-to-door waste collectors, and informal waste collectors who live in or near landfills and dumpsites segregating the junk. Founded by youths, this online fundraising initiative provides food aid and personal protective equipment to this high-risk group.
