What exactly does it mean to be a “good” parent? Different opinions about this question can lead to uncertainty among parents and other caregivers. Obviously, it is crucial to meet children’s basic needs and avoid harm. For healthy development, however, children need much more than just shelter and enough to eat. What is often overlooked is attention to children’s cognitive, social, and emotional needs.
