just finished writing the first draft of this. pardon the crying.
I'm getting a little too old to be chasin this dream
If I was gonna have eyes on me I'd have already been seen
There's lines by my eyes and my beard is going gray
My throat is sore and my fingers hurt when I play
But I'll keep going on as long as I can breathe
Because I cant let down the one woman who believed in me
She never told me to stop playing these guitars
She never stopped me from singing at these rowdy bars
When she'd come to my show she'd just sit alone in the back
Nursing a water with her purse on her lap
When I'd mess a solo or sing a little off key
She'd never say a word about, she'd just look up and smile at me
I thought by now I'd be further along
I thought I'd have wrote just on hit song
I thought I'd hear my voice when I turned the radio on
I thought I'd be older when I lost my mom
I brought my guitar when we went to say goodbye
They all wanted me to sing but all I could do was cry
But when everyone left I hit my knees and prayed
And I heard her voice, She said "son, let me hear you play."
