This clock was very clean, so I only oiled the movement on Front and Back. Polished up the Bell with Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish that cost $6.00 and compared the polish to the Simichrome Polish that really cost the money. I also painted the swirls, carved on the front of the clock.
A note from the NAWCC posting;
Just to let you know - this model is called a "curfew" clock. When a gentleman suitor took out a man's daughter on a date he was instructed to have the girl back home by the the time the bell on top rang at the top of the hour he was told to have her back home by. Thus, a curfew clock.

Here I do most of my work on clocks. Mainly cuckoo clocks, yet I am always looking for the unusual and eye catching clocks. Some of the clocks I get into are ones that need saved from the dump. They fell off the wall from not securing the clock to the wall using the stud behind the sheetrock. Some of the clocks were laid to rest out in the garage or barn and I except the challenge of getting them back together again.
A well loved clock at one time is one that has a lot of wear and you find old bushings that might need to be replaced.
