Baby doesn’t need a bath immediately after they’re born. That whitish substance on most newborns is called “vernix” it has antibacterial and moisturizing benefits and shouldn’t be washed off immediately.
You could simply rub the vernix into their skin while you cuddle with the baby. That time spent giving the baby a bath could be spent doing some more skin-to-skin.
Plus, I don’t know about you but if want to be the one to give my baby their very first bath🥺
