A review of the legendary Zenit 3M from 1965 + Helios 44 (Zenit 3M + Helios 44)
As part of the Photo Warehouse series, we'll be looking at the Zenit 3M single-lens reflex film camera. It was produced from 1962 to 1970. Earlier models were called the "Crystal."
It was equipped with either an Industar 50 3.5mm or Helios 44 2.0mm lens. Our model features a rare metallic white Helios 40 lens, which has a multi-layer coating on the front element, which reduces glare and increases aperture. It has an M39 thread.
This camera features a non-returning mirror mechanism and the absence of a light meter and flash shoe. This video shows how to change shutter speeds on older Zenit models by combining the desired shutter speed on the dial with the dot.
The video shows a leather case, which, like the camera, is 51 years old (produced in 1965).
