In Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, decades of war and waste have scarred the Earth. In a desperate act of self-preservation, the remaining governments of earth pool their resources into sending a colony ship to the nearest habitable world, Chiron. As they leave the ruined Earth behind, they bring the best and brightest, humanity's hopes for a better future, as well as its bias, greed and conflict. Humanity takes to the stars, for better or worse.
