I tried sailing in the UK
Join me as I try sailing in the UK for a day. Despite the rain, we started the engine and set-off out of the harbour and before long we were out into the channel where the weather was clearing up!
It was an amazing feeling when the sails were first hoisted and we were being powered by mother nature... Steering the boats carefully between other vessels was exhilarating and as a monohull the boat was tilting (known as heeling) to one side!
Before long we were at the mouth of the channel and pausing for a cup of tea and lunch whilst we watched wing foilers around us. I took the helm on the way back which felt very fast with the wind direction - especially when we were passing gorgeous, expensive boats. We used just the jib (the front sail) to enter the harbour before lowering it to go in under motor, with the weather significantly different to when we left! It was then a quick hop off to re-moor the boat followed by a beautiful walk along the coast
