I started teaching AIKIDO at home, in my favorite city Riga (Latvia) in 1991, as one of the first trainers with certification and the right to teach this kind of martial arts, issued to me by the PF Lesgaft Leningrad Institute of Physical Culture.
It can be said that I stood at the very beginning of the formation of AIKIDO groups in our city, and then I was lucky to be the only representative from Latvia in 1989 when I created the AIKIDO Federation of the USSR, and to represent our republic in the Federation. It was not an easy job of pioneers, including all my friends and colleagues from our vast country of the USSR. In this video you can see how we train with the students on the parquet floor without the traditional tatami, which is not permissible according to Japanese traditions. But we were such fanatics and enthusiasts that all AIKIDO techniques and techniques were worked out without sparing our bodies through bruises and bruises. Only in 1997 we had a soft tatami covering.
The creative charge lies in the depths of each heart, you just need to find it and use it for the joy of other people.
My main task in the popularity and usefulness of AIKIDO was a personal example to show and prove that it is AIKIDO that is the most harmonious and effective form of martial arts uniting the spirit and body of a person.
And this is exactly what so many people strive for.
