Azerbaijan is an incredibly unique place. It's located on the Caspian Sea and is considered part of eastern Europe and western Asia. What's better than being located in one continent? The answer is... belonging to two!
Azerbaijan is a relatively untouched nation, meaning it is bursting with authentic culture and ancient traditions. Baku, Azerbaijan's diverse capital city, is located on the east coast next to the Caspian Sea. Interestingly enough, Baku is the lowest capital city on Earth, situated 28-metres below sea level! Being a former soviet capital, Baku is now a fast-changing city, blending east and west to create a unique destination unmatched by any other. Watch as Dennis explores the modern delights of the city, such as the spectacular Flame Towers and gorgeous seaside promenades, all before wandering through the ancient wonders, including the iconic medieval walled old town of Icheri Sheher, Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower.
After uncovering the hidden gems of Baku, Dennis and the group head out to the lunar-like ancient landscapes of Gobustan. Here they explore the fascinating open-air museum, home to spectacular bubbling mud volcanoes and thousands of primitive rock carvings that date back to 15,000 B.C.! They then begin making their way west to the stunning and impressive Caucasus Mountain range.
