Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov was injured and forced to leave the game after taking a high, blindside hit from Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba. Kuznetsov was hit in the shoulder and then the head, sending him to the ice in pain. TJ Oshie and Dumba engaged in a fight after the hit, with Oshie receiving a two-minute instigator penalty and a 10-minute misconduct. Dumba was not given a penalty for charging or elbowing. The Wild scored just after the resulting power play ended, with Brandon Duhaime scoring on a backhand to secure the win.
