Here's how to diagnose a bad head gasket on a Sprinter van or any vehicle for about 10 cents, no special test kit needed. This test method is the most reliable imo, because you know if that glove fills up the only thing that could be pressurizing the cooling system is the pistons. No guessing needed - diagnose it right the first time.
Note, it took an hour of idling to get the glove to fill up, and it didn't fill up until I started revving it hard. You may have to drive up a hill to get the head gasket to leak.
