What are we making? Ice Cream.
Homemade Cookies and Cream Ice Cream with Golden Oreos...to be exact.

Who says we can’t make #icecream at home.... Whether you use an ice cream machine or make a simple no churn version...we are doing ice cream our way.

*First, follow prep instructions for your brand of ice cream maker.
Get this out of the way first so your ice cream maker is chilled and ready to go when you.
I am using a #cuisinarticecreammaker

To get the best flavor from your ice cream, It all starts with the base.
For this recipe, I use my very vanilla base ice cream, to which we will add golden vanilla oreo cookies. The base is simple, and is best when you let the ingredients get nice and cold for hours or overnight.

Very Vanilla Ice Cream Base:
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cups white granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
Mix that in a bowl or large measuring cup with a spout.

Then add:
2 cups heavy cream
1 tbsp real vanilla extract
1 tsp. vanilla bean paste
(If you cant find vanilla bean paste, substitute mexican vanilla. It's inexpensive but has a nice vanilla flavor.)

Whisk all ingredients till combined then cover with plastic wrap tightly and chill for at least 8 hours or best overnight in the refrigerator.

*Taste your ice cream base. If you want to up the flavor with any additions do so here before you set it to chill. Your ice cream will taste like your base.

After everything has been chilled, turn on your ice cream machine, stir then slowly pour in your ice cream base. Throughout the churning process the ice cream will look grainy. Remember this is NOT a custard recipe containing eggs, so it wont be as smooth as soft serve but it will smooth out as it churns.

While your ice cream is churning, put approximately one row of cookies into a ziploc bag and break them up using a rolling pin or something heavy and sturdy.

After 20 minutes add your crumbled cookies to the machine in small batches.
Once the cookies are fully incorporated which could take up to an additional 5 minutes, your ice cream should be done.
*If you want to add more cookies, add them as a topping when you are ready to serve your ice cream to avoid overfilling the ice cream maker.

Your ice cream will be soft set like a thick milk shake or a frosty.
You can absolutely eat it now, or freeze it right away and let it firm up.
For storage you can use a silicon freezer container, an aluminum loaf pan, or a food grade plastic container.

*This recipe makes approximately 1 quart + a pint of ice cream.

You are going to love this ice cream. I also have a pistachio recipe that looks and tastes like parlor ice cream. If you would like me to attempt a no-churn version of this recipe Iet me know in the comments :)
