Hi, in this article I'm going to show you how to export your photos for Instagram and Facebook without losing quality. These two social networks are very popular and allow you to share your images with millions of people, but they also have their own requirements and limitations when it comes to uploading your photos. Therefore, it's important that you know how to adjust the size, resolution, and format of your photos so they look their best on each platform.
Instagram
Instagram is a social network focused on mobile photography, so its ideal format is square (1:1). However, it also supports other formats such as vertical (4:5) or horizontal (1.91:1). Keep in mind that Instagram compresses the photos you upload to reduce their file size and optimize loading, so if you don't export them correctly, you can lose quality and sharpness.
To avoid this, I recommend you follow these steps:
Open your photo in Photoshop or Lightroom and crop it to the aspect ratio you want to use on Instagram. You can use the Crop tool or the Crop module in Lightroom.
Adjust the development parameters to your liking, such as white balance, exposure, contrast, saturation, etc.
Export your photo with the following options:
Format: JPEG
Quality: 80%
Resolution: 72 dpi
Size: depends on the format you chose. For square, the ideal size is 1080 x 1080 pixels. For vertical, 1080 x 1350 pixels. For horizontal, 1080 x 566 pixels.
Save your photo to a folder on your computer or to a cloud storage service like Dropbox or Google Drive.
Send your photo to your mobile device via email, WhatsApp, or any other method you prefer.
Open your photo on your mobile device and upload it to Instagram from the app. Don't use Instagram's cropping or adjusting options, as they can alter the quality of your photo.
Facebook
Facebook is a more versatile social network than Instagram, as it allows you to upload photos of any size and format. However, it also compresses the photos you upload to save space and improve performance, so if you don't export them correctly, you can lose quality and definition.
