For almost seven years, I've been trying unsuccessfully to grow strawberries at my dacha.
Beautiful runners, well-prepared soil, fertilizer—the result is the same: more than half the bushes are lying on their sides with wilted leaves, clinging to the ground by a single thread-like root. All my efforts are in vain; I have to replant them.
And so it goes for almost seven years.
Who does this? Cockchafer larvae. They're real nasty, it turns out. Strawberry mole crickets! They literally cut the roots off from the above-ground part. The beautifully developed root system is the tastiest thing for them.
The only remedy that worked was Metarhizium. This spring (miraculously!), not a single bush died. And I even have berries!
If you're having the same problem, be sure to try this remedy. Perhaps it will save your plants and your nerves, just like it saved mine. 😎
