Ransomware is a type of malicious software (malware) that encrypts a victim's files or entire systems, make them inaccessible until a ransom is paid to the attacker.
Once the ransomware infects a device, it locks the user out of their data or system and typically displays a message demanding payment, often in cryptocurrency, in exchange for the decryption key.
Ransomware will typically exploit the weaknesses or vulnerabilities in your organization's IT systems or infrastructures to succeed.
