We would like to introduce you to a special form of monastic life: the cell. Unlike monasteries, the cellists live quite modestly and poorly, without receiving help or support from anyone. In order to survive or simply to have a means of livelihood, each monk chooses a craft that he can perform.
Monastic crafts include weaving prayer beads and bracelets, collecting herbs for infusions and medicinal teas, producing olive oil, wine and olives, producing incense, natural creams and ointments, and much more. Our task is to collect all these products and make them available to you.
Today, we would like to introduce you to the monks who produce incense on Mount Athos. Their day begins in the same way: waking up before sunrise, morning prayer, church service, and reading scriptures are an integral part of the brothers' morning routine. Each monk then proceeds to his own obedience, that is, to the work that he chooses or that is entrusted to him. One of these is the production of incense.
On Mount Athos, incense is produced according to traditional technology, which has remained unchanged for centuries. Although, of course, each monk has his own peculiarities and secrets of production, which they are always happy to share.
