Ah Laphroaig. From what I can tell...the whisky that offends people most. It's not Laphroaig's fault. Some folk don't like peated whisky, that much is understandable but....you've no idea how often I hear "I've tried that Laphroaig and it's disgusting!" Of course, what these people should say is..."I've tried Laphroaig and didn't like it. I don't like smoky whiskies!" but...in the words of the late Jim Morrison...people are strange.

I DO like Laphroaig. And the Lore tends to sit atop their core range. But..is it any good?

Single Malt: Whisk(e)y made by one distillery using malted barley.
Single Grain: Whisk(e)y made by one distillery using one or a selection of grains (usually corn, wheat, rye, etc.). Also used to describe whiskies made in column stills.
Blended Malt: Whisk(e)y made by blending single malts from more than one distillery.
Blended Grain: Whisk(e)y made by blending single grains from more than one distillery.
Blended Scotch or Blend (any other country): Whisky made by blending single malt and single grain (whiskies) from one or more distilleries.

Chill Filtered: A process performed by some producers which sees the whisk(e)y chilled to around 0°to10°, before being screen filtered to remove oily residue left over from the maturation.

N.A.S. Non age stated whisky. No age on bottle.

U.S. Proof: Proof is 2 x ABV. Example…100 Proof = 50% ABV.
Imperial/British Proof: ABV is 4/7 of Proof. Example…100 Proof = 57.1% ABV.
