If you are playing along the tab drags in a couple of spots. I was testing a new format and had way too much time invested to scrap it. Basically, had to copy/paste everything…it was a nightmare.
The Song
The one very noticeable feature of this song was how well it was recorded. Just seemed much cleaner/crisper than the contemporary recording of the time. And that keyboard...
-released as a single in the United States and reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
"Because" was written with the intention of being the Dave Clark Five's fifth US single, but the band's label, Epic Records, was initially resistant, believing the ballad strayed too far from the hit-making formula that had proven successful with the band's previous upbeat singles.
They were wrong.
The Band
Drummer Dave Clark served as the group's leader, producer and co-songwriter.
Did not use studio musicians
Were the second group of the British Invasion to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show; they would ultimately have 18 appearances on the show.

In 2008, Dave Clark Five lead singer Mike Smith died of pneumonia, less than two weeks before the band was to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was 64.
