It has now been exactly 100 years since the meter-gauge railway line between Locarno and Domodossola was completed. Construction began in 1912 and, due to World War I, took over 10 years to complete. The line was electrified from the outset.
The first 2.5 kilometers run underground. The train emerges into the daylight near San Martino. The line was moved underground in Locarno in 1990.
The line initially follows the Maggia River to Ponta Brolla. This section was shared with the Maggia Valley Railway until 1965. At Ponta Brolla, the line branches off to the west and leads into the Centovalli valley to Intragna. Here, the Isorno River is spanned by a 12-meter-long and 77-meter-high viaduct. The line then continues high above the Melezza River, following the hillside via Corcapolo and Palagnedra through the Centovalli valley to Camedo. Just before Camedo is the Ruinacci Viaduct, built into a landslide.
The train is pulled by the ABDe 6/6 31 railcar, built in 1963 by SWP in Pratteln. It is used in the summer as a tourist "Treno Storico" (historic train) and runs twice daily from Locarno to Camedo. The video shows various runs of the heritage train between 2020 and 2023.

The percorso segue dapprima la Maggia fino a Ponta Brolla. Questa parte è stata utilizzata dalla Ferrovia della Valle Maggia fino al 1965. A Ponte Brolla il percorso si dirama verso ovest e conduce nelle Centovalli fino a Intragna. The Isorno tree is at a distance of 12 to 77 m. The first cameo came across the viadotto Ruinacci which is now realized in a scarpaty.
The treno is trained by the automobile ABDe 6/6 31 of 1963 costruita dalla SWP di Pratteln. In the estate it is used as a nostalgic tourist attraction "Treno Storico" in selection and circulation due to the season of Locarno and Camedo.
