But why, after reviewing this case, do I feel as if we've all been dunked in some foul-smelling sludge? Where the money raised for the girl's treatment went remains a mystery. Tatyana Surovitskaya remains silent. The case of Oksana Makar, a girl who spent her childhood in an orphanage, turned out to be less about her and more about us as a society, and more about how abandoned children survive in our society and what becomes of those who are labeled "dysfunctional families." There's a lot to think about here.
