How to Perform a Hard Reset on a Tesla Model 3 / Y
Performing a hard reset on a Tesla Model 3 using a "pin" or "loop" reset.
Open the driver's and rear right doors, roll down the windows, and open the hood.
Press the "Power Off" button in the "Security" menu.
Remove the plastic underhood cover and the upper plastic part of the air duct.
Remove the positive 12V battery terminal and secure it so it doesn't touch any metal parts of the car.
Raise the right rear seat.
Remove the foam protective cover.
Lower the BMS terminal bracket.
The car is de-energized.
In some cases, a full reset requires leaving the car in this state for 15-20 minutes.
To turn the car back on, reassemble it in reverse order.
