In this program, the user is prompted to enter a string. The program then uses a for loop to iterate over each character in the string. For each character, it checks if it is not a whitespace character. If it's not a whitespace character, the count variable is incremented. Finally, the program displays the count of characters (excluding whitespace) on the screen.
