DevOpsDays Zürich: Bigger is Not Always Better | DevOps Summit Antwerp 2024
In this insightful presentation from the DevOpsDays Global Organiser Summit 2024 in Antwerp on October 3rd, 2024, Nadine and Dirk share our journey of scaling and downscaling DevOpsDays Zürich. Originally a compact, highly engaging event, the conference expanded to host 500 attendees, which brought significant challenges. We as organizers faced increased workloads, sponsor demands, and pressure from ticket sales—all of which affected the event's overall quality.
Through a careful trade-off analysis, our team made the strategic decision to downscale the event back to 250 participants to preserve its core values and focus on quality. In this talk, we explore the lessons learned from both scaling up and down, and how they managed community expectations, maintained event quality, and ensured that the essence of DevOpsDays remained intact.
