About the presenters:
John Seeran, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI):
John Sheeran is a Chemical Engineer who worked for a number of years in the Pharmaceutical Industry before joining the Health and Safety Authority (H.S.A.). Whilst in the H.S.A. John worked in a number of areas including workplace inspections, the special investigation unit and the last six years of my time in the H.S.A. was spent in the market surveillance area (Gas Appliances, PPE, Lifts, Machinery and Pressure Equipment). John was also at one point the National Administrator for ICSMS. John then worked for three years in the product safety division of the CCPC in the market surveillance area( PPE, Gas Appliances, Toys , LVD and GPSD).
John joined SEAI as Programme Manager Technical in August 2022 where he now works in the market surveillance area for eco-design, energy labelling and tyre labelling. Having worked as a regulator for 20 plus years he has experience in compliance checks, stakeholder engagement, enforcement, investigations and prosecutions.
Mark Cafferkey, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI):
Mark Cafferkey leads market surveillance activities relating to building services at the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
He has had a close connection with the heating and plumbing industry for over 20 years, firstly as an Installer, and then as a residential and non-residential mechanical regulatory inspector in the United Kingdom.
