Abstract:
In novel electrified aircraft concepts such as the CHEETA aircraft, well-defined multi-domain models are useful in conducting simulation studies to assist in aircraft sizing and trade-off studies. Since there are limited opportunities for testing and building physical prototypes of this aircraft concept, simulation studies give insight on which designs have the most benefit. In this work, multi-physics models of the aircraft’s fuel cell and battery are developed. These models are then studied to understand their dynamic electro-thermal behavior, providing additional information on design considerations in early system development stages
