Overview
In Pattern 1, Pattern was defined as a regular arrangement of repeated (or alternated) elements or motifs. In Ikebana you may arrange shapes, lines, or colours repeatedly to create an interesting effect. Please revisit Pattern 1 for sample works demonstrating the use of Pattern.
"Pattern is just like sugar in Japanese cuisine. While it is often used, it is often disguised. When it is applied particularly by a master, it is hard to recognise" (Pattern 1-Task).
Is there any Pattern in basic styles?
Yes, but it is not very obvious. You can make a good basic style without thinking about Pattern. But you may see some differences in your basic style if you successfully incorporate Pattern.
Pattern in basic styles can be used in 2 ways: preparing materials and arranging materials. See Session Notes - Pattern 2 for the details.
The goal of Pattern 2 is to incorporate the principle of Pattern in your basic style.
