A SUGAR SHACK TRIBUTE TO TERI GARR
Teri Garr has passed away. This lady was always one of my favorite comedic actresses. Teri's career kicked off early doing commercials and as a dancer in many Elvis films. She became a household name for her roles as Inga in 'Young Frankenstein', Caroline in 'Mr. Mom', her Oscar nominated role as Sandy in 'Tootsie' and many others such as Ronnie in 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' and Mrs. Ramsey in the 70's feel good movie 'The Black Stallion'. She was one of David Letterman's favorite guests on 'The Late Show' appearing 39 times! Her more recent role surprised and delighted fans when she appeared as Pheobe Abbott, mother to Lisa Kudrow's "floopy" character Pheobe Buffet on the hit show 'Friends'. In 1983 Teri started to notice symptoms of weakness in her legs. After 11 diagnoses' and 17 years later the official diagnosis was Multiple Sclerosis in 1999. Having appeared in over 100 films and television series her new role became an ambassador for MS. Teri passed away peacefully today of Multiple Sclerosis at her LA home, surrounded by family and friends. Teri would have been 80 years old on December 11th.
