How did humankind emerge? José Braga and his team are searching for the missing link between apes and humans. In Kromdraai, South Africa, paleoanthropologists are uncovering important clues about our direct ancestors.

At the Kromdraai archaeological site, scientists are searching for new evidence. The South African region, also known as the "Cradle of Humankind," is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, until now, no one has been able to provide direct evidence here of the transition from apes to humans.
Professor José Braga suspects that the key to understanding this change lies in the fossil remains of young children. The arrangement of their teeth allows them to be precisely assigned to different hominid species. Although decades of excavations have yet to uncover any evidence of this supposed intermediate species, Braga doesn't give up. With the help of modern geology and sophisticated 3D technology, he discovers not only that Kromdraai was a cave millions of years ago, but also what the decisive factor was in human evolution.
