FARM restaurant, Boone NC - Tommy Brown
FARM (feed all regardless of means) is a farm to table pay what you can restaurant (http://farmcafe.org/index.html). One of the most interesting and deeply transformative projects/social enterprises I have seen. It's part of a network of similar restaurants called One World Everybody Eats (https://www.oneworldeverybodyeats.org/). It makes real the slow food goal of making good food available to everyone, not just an elite few. Here's the goals:

Patrons choose their own portion size
Healthy, seasonal food is served whenever available
Patrons may volunteer in exchange for a meal
Volunteers are used to the maximum extent possible to staff the organization
Paid staff earn a living wage

Some cafes embrace an eighth value: No set menu
