Via Francigena in Italy - 30 days on the road
I started from the Ligurian Alps to the French border in San Remo, in Rome... The journey took 30 days. In the Ligurian Alps to the French border I followed the Via Julia Augusta which for the most part is under the modern road. In Genoa I followed the Via Aemilia Seaura to Pisa and from there the Via Aurelia to Rome! Halfway from Siena I followed the Via Cassia which is the medieval Via Francigena a medieval Italian pilgrimage route that passes over the mountains from England to Rome offering safety from the attacks of Arab pirates from the coast of North Africa
