The Creation of Venom in Marvel Comics
Believe it or not, one of Spider-Man's most iconic villains came from a fan's mind! In 1982, Marvel held a contest for a new black costume design for Spider-Man. Randy Schueller's concept, with its sleek black design and spider symbol, won the hearts (and $220) of the judges. This winning design eventually spawned the fan-favorite villain Venom, who has gone on to star in comics, movies, and video games.
