How to spray a bodypainting | SWR Handwerkskunst
When Udo Schurr atomizes liquid paint into a fine mist of colour, following the curves of the body, he is in his element. Schurr is a two-time body painting world champion in the "airbrush" category, a form of visual art in which the human body is painted with the help of an air gun. What begins with bare skin ends with a colorful transformation.
By varying the distance to the body, the pressure (usually between 1.5 and 3 bar) and the nozzle sizes (between 0.15mm and 0.6mm), Udo achieves the desired motifs on the models' bodies. The first step in body painting is priming, after which the motifs are applied, "from rough to fine" as Udo likes to say. The paints are water-soluble and the pleasure is only temporary, which makes the presentation of the models at the end of a session and the final photography all the more important.
