Studios of Creation
An educational programme aiming to unite visual arts with the art of sound and new technologies

Initiated by the Center Pompidou and IRCAM, this artistic educational project Studios of Creation (Ateliers de la création) has a simple but demanding ambition: to offer students of vocational training schools, far from the world of art and its institutions, a dive at the heart of the most contemporary creation.
The program has expanded since 2010 with the participation of several structures outside Paris & France. For more than 20 hours, at school and in the museum, through encounters with artists and curators, the students explore a work of art (a painting or sculpture) over several weeks. They go beyond their first impression and analyze the materials, the processes at work in the artwork, learn to use techniques for sound capture and work in the studio, refine their sight and hearing.
The programme culminates in a full day of presentations held every year at IRCAM and the Centre Pompidou.
