Balboa Park has 1200 acres, the San Diego Zoo has 100 of those acres.
Also, Balboa Park is larger that New York Central Park which has 840 acres.
Balboa Park was built to commemorate the completion of the Panama Canal in 1915 also known as the Panama-California Exposition.
With over 16 museums and several performing art venues and restaurants there is plenty to see and do.
