jOOQ Tutorial - Intellij Maven Plugin, Selects, Inserts to PostgreSQL
In this video I show you how to use the jOOQ maven plugin (with intellij) in order to generate postgreSQL jooq objects. These jooq generated database objects provide me with a fluent and typesafe java DSL that can be easily used to select data from the tables and also insert new records. There are countless ways of selecting and persisting, have a look at the DSL options!
Lastly I show you how you can use jOOQ to generate SQL from its fluent DSL, I dont believe this a normal use-case but i have seen it done none-the-less.
Give Jooq a try, i personally enjoy using it because of the typesafety persisting and its ease of use – plus jooq is free for open source databases.
How did I find out about jooq? I came across jooq while at a seminar in Belfast where Lukas Eder (Creator of jooq) was giving a presentation on SQL performance tips. Since then my team and I have used it many times with our open source databases, and we have it as part of our high performance production applications.
