Sean O’Malley born October 24, 1994 is an up and coming American Professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Bantamweight Division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). As of December 2021, he is ranked #12 in the UFC Bantamweight Rankings.
The young 17 year old who was considered the smallest of athletes and decided to pursue his passion and prove himself to those who doubted him. Sean, first began with kickboxing which to him was “fun” but nothing like the world of MMA. Those who trained with him knew that he had something special and worked with him in pursuit of a MMA fighting career.
“Coach Johnny recognized something in me immediately. He nicknamed me Sugar and the name stuck. It wasn’t long before Coach got me a few fights. I started knocking adults out at every fight. I decided pink was the color and soon the crowds were wearing pink, men and women, supporting this skinny, curly head kid named Sugar.” - Sean O’Malley
After hard work, dedication and even moments of doubt Sean O’Malley in 2017 had finally achieved and earned a contract with the UFC through Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series by defeating Alfred Khashakyan with a knockout that had Dana White out of his seat mouthing “Holy Sh*t.”
The fighters approach consists of “knocking them out in spectacular fashion” which makes for his well known viral walk-off knockouts. Sean is slowly, but surely gaining in the ranks and with fans as his exciting fighting style makes for quite the show. So as a new fan or returning one as he might say “Welcome to the Sugar Show.”
