Art with Lórien– In the Studio~ Create a Magnificent Mixed Media Self-Respect Portrait ~ Part 1
Creativity is the play of the Soul. ~ Lórien
This is the Official YouTube channel of artist and award-winning educator Lórien Eck.
This channel exists to Awaken Your Heart, Nourish Your Spirit through the magic and wonder of creativity through art making.
This is the place to reconnect with your Divine inner artist and discover the joy of painting "outside the lines" through my art classes.
We aim to inspire, encourage, inform and support you in building your art practice and to feel good through creative self-expression!
We strongly believe that everyone is an artist, that anyone can learn to make art! If you were ever told you cannot draw or paint or heard any other limiting words that have stopped you from being creative artistically, I encourage you to reclaim your Divine inner artist now. It is never too late. ALL ages, genders and levels are welcome!!!
My "In the Studio" series is a special series that personally invites you into my art studio and gives you a unique entrée into the heart of a contemporary working artist from the comfort of your own home/studio!
The insights gained from this perspective are immeasurable and invaluable to your own studio practice as I will be giving insider tips, exploring the nuances and hidden worlds of the magic and mystique of an artist's inner sanctum and sacred space that is her art studio.
And, I offer classes on techniques, processes and more to help you create original art that you love and that loves you back every single day!
Welcome!
In this video, I am sharing part one of a two part video series focused on creating a mixed media visual talisman exploring the topic of Self-Respect.
My goals for this project are:
1. appreciation of self qualities building good feelings- being honest with the self.
2. connect with those feelings of self-respect
3. marking those feelings down- creating an artwork to memorialize that feeling in a visual talisman
4. mixed media explorations – painting
5. increased self-love through the process of self-appreciating our uniqueness and creating a unique artwork that expresses that! Yes!
I incorporate several steps inviting you to engage in reflection and appreciating of your inner being; art journaling; generate symbols of respect. Consider these ideas. If you could paint your face in a color, what color would it be? If respect were words, if you were speaking in a respectful way, what words express your unique qualities?
This two-part video series is inspired from an art activity I designed inspired by Living Values Education and the value of Respect, the lesson on Respect called My Qualities. I first taught this lesson to children ages 8-14 and we had a blast!
