Lake Ingalls | Larches and autumn colors
Lake Ingalls is a stunning alpine lake located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness of Washington State, within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The hike to Lake Ingalls is famous for its incredible views of the North Cascades, especially Mount Stuart, one of the tallest non-volcanic peaks in Washington.
Lake Ingalls is particularly famous for its golden larches in autumn. Larches are unique, deciduous conifers that change color in the fall. In late September to early October, their needles turn a brilliant gold before they fall off, creating a stunning contrast against the evergreen trees and rugged peaks of the area. This period is often considered the best time to visit Lake Ingalls.
