Maestro Gaxiola - Painting in Death Valley 1984
This is a takeoff of those spaghetti westerns that open with a wide shot of a desert landscape with a solitary cowboy riding slowly into the frame. The great distance makes him appear as a speck in the wilderness; a mysterious nameless rider, riding into the harsh western landscape This video was filmed in the Death Valley badlands. In this unforgiving and hostile environment we see a man walking into the frame, searching for and eventually finding a place to give color and form to his soul. (note the Peet's coffee bag when the backpack is unpacked near the end of the video)
